Almost 0-carb Beef Steak Rice | SOZO Guilt-free Recipes
Stressful day? Close your eyes, and remember one of the most comforting dishes your lola made you, Beef Steak. Remember the savory aroma wafting from the kitchen, the delectable hint of peppery citrus you can’t get enough of, and remember how normal it was to get a second, third, even a fourth serving of rice because it was that good.
But now that times are a-changin and our waistlines may have gone way beyond the calendar days, we need an alternative to rice, STAT, especially during stressful days.
Good thing shirataki rice is here to save us from our misery. We’ll never miss out!
0:5 Prep | 0:10 Cook | 2 Servings
Ingredients
-
2 pounds top round or sirloin, sliced thinly
-
¼ cup calamansi juice, to taste
-
1/4 cup soy sauce
-
1 onion, peeled and sliced thinly
-
1 head garlic, peeled and minced
-
1/4 teaspoon pepper
-
3 tablespoons canola oil
-
1 cup water
-
1-2 siling labuyo
-
salt to taste
-
1 onion, peeled and sliced into rings
-
2 packs of Amazing Shirataki Rice
Method
-
In a bowl, combine calamansi juice, soy sauce, sliced onions, garlic, chili and pepper. Once taste is to your liking, add in beef. Massage marinade into the meat and let it sit for about 30 minutes.
-
Remove meat, onion, and garlic from marinade, and reserving excess liquid.
-
In a pan over high heat, heat oil. Add beef and cook for about 2 to 4 minutes per side or until lightly browned. Spoon out and reserve released meat juices during frying. Remove meat.
-
Saute garlic and onion until softened. Return browned beef to pan.
-
Add reserved marinade and meat juices. Pour water and bring to a boil.
-
Cover, lower heat, and simmer for about 40 to 50 minutes or until meat is fork-tender and liquid is reduced. Season with salt to taste.
-
While waiting, cook Shirataki Rice. Rinse thoroughly, boil for 2 minutes and dry fry. Set aside.
